More Masquerade Music pieces to appear on Trinity College sylllabus

(January 08, 2016)

Trinity College London have recently been trawling through mountains of publications in search of suitable repertoire for the 2017-2019 Woodwind syllabus.

Currently I have two pieces on their Jazz Woodwind syllabus; Flying Free (from Songs for Claire suite) on grade 4 (Eb and Bb Saxophone options), and Ballade on grade 7 (again, both Bb and Eb Saxophone options).

Reliable sources now inform me that Celtic VII (taken from the saxophone edition of my Celtic Collage collection) will appear on grade 5, along with Andy Hampton's Love is an Enigma (from the Jazz Moods book; 7 original pieces for Bb or Eb Sax, 2 piano parts provided), and his Rio Girl on grade 4.

Celtic III (from my Celtic Collage Flute edition), will appear in the official Trinity College London Flute exam pieces (Grade 4), and Celtic VII in the same book, but the grade 5 edition. You can imagine how delighted I was to receive this information, and what a nice surprise to hear just before Christmas. These books seem to follow in the vein of the ABRSM graded books which contain 3 list A,B, and C pieces chosen from the grade; a popular choice for most!

Right... off to do a bit more writing; I'm currently writing a studies book concentrating on improving rhythm reading, and have a few other projects in mind too.

Happy new year by the way!
